Chemicals Recommendations______________________________________________________________
To maintain
a healthy lawn, we recommend the following chemical applications be
performed during the appropriate
month(s).
These recommendations apply to the Hampton Roads/ Tidewater area of Virginia
and similar climates.
When doing it yourself, always read and follow the labeling instructions and

Crab grass
pre-emergent should be applied between
February 15th and
March 15th.
If crabgrass was prevalent
during the
previous season then
another application is recommended around
the first of
June.

During
April
weed killer
should be applied to control weeds.
|
|
|
As a preventative
measure, it is recommended that a fungicide be
applied to the lawn
in May.
Repeated
applications are sometimes
necessary during the summer months.

|
Insecticide
should be applied in May and/or August
to control
grubs and other lawn insects.
|
|
|
September and
October
are the best months
for aerating and
seeding. Generally lawns should be reseeded each year as
well as aerated.
|
|
|
Fescue lawns
should be fertilized three times a year in
September,
October, and December.
